Last Saturday I had my head down and was hammering home from Carpinteria State Beach. Today was a little milder – went for a 39 mile ride over Sepulveda Pass to Encino and back. It was only my second ride since I got back from my San Luis Obispo trip. I did, however, find time to put my new heavy duty touring tires and puncture resistant tubes on the bike. I sure hope they work and minimize flats!! I can tell they are a bit heavier but if they minimize flat tires – so be it!!
I’m finding that there is much do to when you are taking off for an extended period of time!! I’ll probably go for a few more training rides over the next week or 10 days and then I plan to break down my bike and pack it all up. One of the guys doing the ride with us just happens to have a bike store in Evanston, near Chicago so I will be sending my bike and all my gear to his store which will make life a bit easier. When I show up in Chicago a few days before the ride, my bike should be all put together and ready to go!
Today Jordan’s mom is having a going away party for Jordan! Everything is moving so fast. Three weeks from today, Jordan will be in New York getting ready to move in to her dorm at NYU on the 28th.
It’s getting more and more real every day!!
