Jordan would like me to stay in New York through the first part of May but I’ll just see how things are going. I was originally planning to go real estate shopping in Montana in the spring but I’m now thinking that I’m not sure I want to buy a house and then head off to Australia for the bike ride for 3 1/2 months at the end of August.
Also, Jordan suggested I might want to thinking about moving to Upstate New York instead of Montana. I have no experience with that part of the country but it looks like I could find what I am looking for. So, given all of the variables, I could just rent a place for a while in Upstate New York and then find a place to rent in Montana before I head off to Australia. I’ll just see how things develop.
Last night I drove Jordan and her friend (and roommate), Sonia, up to the Griffith Observatory to enjoy the view. It really is pretty spectacular. Over the 40 years I’ve lived in LA, I don’t know how many times I’ve flown into LAX at night, but a lot – and the sight never ceases to amaze me.
It’s still a little bit hard to realize that in 72 hours we will be landing at JFK in New York and my time in SoCal, except for aperiodic visits for one reason or another, will come to an end. I’ve had a number of people ask me what I’m going to do in New York because I won’t be working. I expect to become somewhat of a gym rat since I need to whip my butt into shape for the Australia ride. I intend to read, write, explore museums and galleries, seek out neat cafes and restaurants, help Jordan with her calculus and chemistry (if asked!), and maybe take some classes if I can find something interesting and fun. In short, I’m not really worried about keeping myself busy.
Well, that’s about it for now. My next post will likely come from my new digs in New York. Adios, Los Angeles! See you in the spring some time!!
